Conspar has begun investigative work at Carmelite Monastery to determine the cause of a brick wall that is subsiding. The wall is a prominent feature of the monastery, which dates back to the early 20th century, situated alongside the church.
Behind the wall lies a courtyard and it is here where the first stage of Conspar's investigation work has taken place.
Conspar's preliminary work to help restore the wall has involved exploring the existence and functioning of drainage systems in the area which may have had an adverse impact on the wall's structural integrity.
A series of soakwells were detected, some not functioning adequately.
The project continues.
