Conspar structural maintenance work at a block of seaside units in Cottesloe is progressing. The current stage of work involves treatment of concrete cancer existing at the balcony floors of the units.
Concrete cancer, if left untreated, can jeopardise a building's structural integrity and create a safety risk for occupants, as well as passers by.
Caused by water penetrating the concrete and rusting the steel reinforcing within, the effected steel has to be treated and in some cases replaced, causative cracks repaired and Conspar's water resistant protective coatings applied to help safeguard the area against the problem reoccurring in the future.
