Treatment of concrete cancer at Mosman Park apartment building

Conspar has carried out treatment of concrete cancer occurring at a residential apartment block in Mosman Park.

The concrete cancer was present at leading edges of some of the balconies of the building.

Concrete cancer can create substantial damage to a building if left untreated and be a safety issue.

It occurs when water is able to penetrate concrete, usually through fine hairline cracks and find its way to the steel reinforcement within.

When the water meets the steel it begins to rust it, damaging the concrete surrounds.

Without removing the rust, the rust spreads and so does the concrete damage until it affects larger sections of a property.

Conspar, established in 1969, specialises in providing structural building maintenance services for residential, commercial, industrial, heritage, publicly-owned and strata properties in Perth.
